Liebster Award from PL

Thanks to Princess Leah for this amazing award! You should totally check out and start following her blog. This is the third time I've done the Liebster thing, so we know the drill...

1. What is your biggest fear?
Not being good enough at insert-current-obsession-here.

2. Who is your favorite Author?
Jane Austen.

3. Do you like rooms to be super bright or do you prefer dim light? (I know, weird question)
Super bright. A la Hemingway, I prefer a clean, well-lit space.

4. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Gossip sessions &/or general cattiness.

5. What is your hidden talent?
Being able to recognize any Taylor song within a couple bars.

6. Did you change a lot since you were a child? If so, how?
I'm even more of a perfectionist (although that wasn't supposed to be possible) and I guess my interests have segway-ed into different things. You know, binge-watching Netflix &etc. But I think my core personality is more or less the same.

7. Are you sarcastic, deep, sweet or undefinable?
Hm. Sweet with people I don't know that well, deep with people I do.

8. When you raise your eyes from this computer screen, what are you looking at?
Several different poster-board size magazine collages... I guess that's another hidden talent :)

9. What is your realistic/unrealistic dream job?
Senior Editor at a fashion/lifestyle magazine.

10. What was your first job?
In tenth grade, I got my first paying job,  working as a Childcare Assistant at Generations Church.

11. Do you have a tan right now?
Um, no. The only tan I ever had came out of a bottle, and that was forever ago. Here's to SPF and skin-saving in the 2010s and always :)

I nominate whoever wants to participate! Make sure to leave me your link so I can check out your blog.

Here are your new questions:
1. Favorite color (humor me)?
2. Song you have on repeat?
3. Your five favorite words?
4. If you had to define yourself using four adjectives or less, which ones would you choose?
5. How would you describe your approach to healthy living?
6. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
7. Are you saving up for anything right now?
8. Biggest splurge to date?
9. Would you rather grace the cover of Entertainment Weekly or Forbes?
10. Favorite kind of dessert?
11. Do you like rain?

Love! Happy summer!

xoxo,
Ireland

Liebster #2

Thanks to Paige from Sunday Best and All the Rest for awarding me with my second Liebster Award! Again, here are the rules:

1) What is the long term goal for your blog?
I'm taking it one month at a time for now, but the goal is to continue blogging for the next couple years. Eventually I'm thinking about turning it into a website.

2) What have you enjoyed the most about blogging so far?
It's hard to say what I've enjoyed the most. There are so many fun aspects to it. I enjoy getting to know other bloggers that I never would have come into contact with otherwise; keeping in touch with my out-of-state friends and family; seeing my progress as a writer and a stylist; and learning more about computers and web design.

3) Peanut butter + chocolate or mint + chocolate?
I'm thinking of 90% dark chocolate squares by Godiva with peanut butter spread on top of them. Served with unsweetened almond milk.

4) For your birthday, would you rather have your mom or sister  cook you a special meal or go out to eat?
Either or! My mom can certainly make yummy food, but I like to go out sometimes.

5) Series or stand alone books?
Series. On the Runway and Harry Potter come to mind. Unlike stand alone books, with a series you go on a deeper journey with the characters and get to grow with them.

6) What version of the Bible do you prefer?
Well, obviously they're all great. It's the Bible, no matter how you slice it! I love the Message because it speaks in street language, and it makes sense to me. The King James Version is lovely and beautiful. Right now I mainly use the New International Version, but I'm going to go with The Message overall.

7) Do you journal your studies in scripture?
Not usually. I do keep a journal, but normally I'm just talking to God about my life and the things I'm struggling with. That's a good idea, though.

8) If you were to host a period costume event, what era would it be?
Either the 1940s or 50s. I love the fashions of the Regency and Civil War era, too, but not quite as much.

9) Do you spend your day in bare feet, socks, or shoes?
Today, I'm barefoot.

10) If you could have a gift card to any clothing store, including online, what would it be for?
Forever 21.

11) If I were to visit you in your hometown, what would be the first place you'd want me to see?
My hometown is Knoxville, Tennessee, and the first place I would take you to would be downtown to walk around the riverfront. It's fun, and now that I only go back to TN to visit, it holds a bit of nostalgia for me as well.

Random Facts About Moi:

1. My middle name is Rhea, in case that wasn't obvious ;P
2. My fingernails are more often pink than any other paint color.
3. I am near-sighted and have astigmatism.
4. I prefer contacts over glasses.
5. One day I plan to chop off my hair and try a Michelle Williams pixie cut.
6. I am currently putting together a "Surviving High School" playlist.
7. If you haven't heard "In With The Out Crowd" by About A Mile, I recommend you go listen to it. As in, right now.
8. I like to daydream.
9. My number-one bucket list item is to become my child-of-God self. I don't know what that will look like over the course of my life, but I know it's what I want.
10. I LOVE TO SING.
11. My family is moving to Wilmington, NC in a couple weeks, and one of the big things I want to do when we get there is start getting involved in community theatre.

The Beautiful Blogger Award

Thanks so much to Khloe Grace, who gave me the Beautiful Blog Award!!! She has a really cool blog you can check out HERE.

Here are the five rules that go along with accepting this award:
1. Thank the blogger who awarded you
2. Answer the ten questions he/she asked
3. Nominate ten bloggers to receive the award
4. Ask them ten questions
5. Let them know they've been awarded

I am more than happy to oblige.

1. Have you ever left the country?  If so, where did you go and why?
Yes. When I was three, my parents took me to Dublin, Ireland. It was the first and only time I've been on a plane, and while I don't remember much, we do have some pictures that can help spark memories. I've also been to the Caribbean.

2. Have you read the Hunger Games?  What are your thoughts on it?
Yes, all of them, several times. It's a really sad storyline, but I enjoyed reading the books immensely. I love that the main theme is hope and that that's the big idea even through all the grotesqueness of the political system.

3. Who is your favorite U.S. president?
I'm not really up on my politics, so I'm not really apt to answer this question. I'm going to go with Teddy Roosevelt because he was the POTUS in the Kit Kittredge American Girl books, and I loved those :) . (I told you I wasn't up on my politics...) Ask me again in a couple years when I know more about politics and government.

4. What is your favorite song... or top three if you can't decide?
Emily (It's Love) by Francesca Battistelli
Carolina In My Mind by James Taylor
American Honey by Lady Antebellum
*They will probably change in a few months, just to warn you!

5. What is one of your biggest life goals?
Complete my undergrad.

6. What is one of the most embarrassing things that has happened to you?
I get embarrassed when I remember the social/moral mistakes I've made in the past. But I don't think God really wants us to feel that way-- if it's an important mistake, we have to go to him about it, and if it's not we have to remember humility and move on! :) A difficult lesson, but worth it...

7. Do you follow sports?  If so, what sport and what is your favorite team?
I don't really follow sports, per se, but I like watching football with my dad. The New York Giants are my favorite team.

8. Have you ever attended a dance?  If so, what was it for?
Like at school? I went to a costume dance in seventh grade but it wasn't that fun and I haven't been to another. Anyway, I'm homeschooled now, and I haven't gone to a home-school/co-op dance.

9. Do you have a job?
While I'm not technically old enough to work, my church does pay me to babysit for some of the women's small groups.

10. When was the last time you saw a movie in the theater?  What was it?
A couple weeks ago I went with a friend to see God's Not Dead. It was a good movie, and I love to support the Christian film industry!

My Questions:
1. What was your hardest subject in school?
2. Do you play an instrument, and if so, which one?
3. What is your favorite color? And you have to pick ONE. No cop-outs.
4. Flip-flops or boots?
5. Football, soccer, or tennis?
6. Have you ever taken a self-defense course?
7. What is one weak area of your life that you are working to improve?
8. Bible passage you are loving right now?
9. How would you describe your personal style?
10. What's your favorite way to work out? Again, no cop-outs. :)

My Nominees:
1. Sarah at All Things Vintage
2. The girls at Going Upstream
4. Sarah Elizabeth at Learning to Trust God
6. Karen at Bodies On a Budget
9. Iris at Feminine Modesty

Welcome Post

Hey everybody! Welcome to my new blog! I’m Ireland, and I'm sooooo glad you're here. For this very first post, I thought I would share a few fast things about me...

I love Jesus Christ above all else. If you have never trusted in Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you should know that He loves you and the best life you could ever have lies with him! Check out http://mandisaofficial.com/home/how-to-become-a-christian/ or  http://gotquestions.org/way-of-salvation.html. (By the way, the whole Got Questions website is really great. It's definitely helped me out.)

I live in beautiful Southport, North Carolina with my parents and crazy-in-a-good-way brother, Jeffrey. We moved here last spring, and one of the cool things we like to do is bike to the pier (pictured above). Isn't it gorgeous?

I love to siiiinngg. Like, a lot. If you ever spent the day with me, just sitting on the couch while I do school (I'm a home-schooler), you would find that I sing... a lot. Just ask my mom. ☺ I also really like fashion, reading good books, and making lists. You know, now that I stop to think about it, life can be so great sometimes. We just have to remember our amazing blessings. Maybe then even the rough patches won't seem so overwhelming. God is always good, after all.

I'm so glad you decided to check out my blog! Cool things are in store... so come back soon!

Love,
Ireland
